Visual Identity for a fictional Sustainable Development Think Tank
This project within a two week Graphic Design course was about creating a profile for a fictional Think Tank, with the main goal to help governments adopting sustainable development through design methods. The Think Tank was focusing on the sustainable development goal Reduced Inequalities.
Think Tank
The main assignment was looking into creating the visual identity of a Think Tank. Therefore one of the first steps was to understand what a Think Tank is.
Goal
The idea was to gain basic knowledge in graphic design, typography, production of logotypes and pictogram for use in interactive media.
Brief
The brief included to create a number of practical tasks such as the production of a graphic profile, a layout of screen interfaces for different kinds of interactive media, animations and graphic design for printed media.
33%
Economic inequality is largely driven by the unequal ownership of capital. Since 1980, very large transfers of public to private wealth occurred in nearly all countries. The global wealth share of the top 1 percent was 33 percent in 2016.
2x
Women spend, on average, twice as much time on unpaid housework as men.
16%
In 1980, the top one percent had 16 percent of global income. The bottom 50 percent had 8 percent of income.
Process
In the process I focused on three different parts, the first one was to develop the core elements of a brand identity by finding a name of the consultancy, create a logotype and a colour palette. As a next step I created IRL applications, like business cards. The last part included digital applications like a homepage layout.
After researching on the given topic, it was also crucial to understand the meaning of a Think Tank and the meaning of communicating a brand.
